Can You Believe It’s Hamilton?!

Weekly round-up of #lovethetron for the week ending 18th February!

Delicious treats at the Food & Wine Festival, snapped by the newly-engaged @angelacuming.

Continuing with the food theme, @hornykitten spots some very pretty sushi plating.

Delicate teacups at Flutter Cafe had our hearts aflutter.

They may not be delicate, but the Warriors coming to town also had our hearts aflutter. @angelacuming snaps them on their way to dinner at Iguana.

The Hamilton Gardens Arts Festival kicked off this week, and @tarasutherland was there to watch Snow White and The Pirates.

Whiskey is standing in front of the Tron he loves most, the cool street art wall down by Fairfield Bridge.

Whiskey says: ‘I love this wall because it reminds me that, like love itself, the best things in life are free. Actually, that’s a Janet Jackson song. I love this wall because there’s a snail on it. And snails are cool.”

“This is me loving the Tron at a spot that gives me my three favourite things: trees, coffee and art.

The Sculpture Park Waitakaruru Arboretum is just 15kms east of the Tron, it’s beautiful and filled with the most amazing sculptures.

If this was in Sydney or London or Paris it would cost $75 to get in and you’d have to line up for hours.

It’s my favourite part of Hamilton, a (sadly) well-kept secret and I am completely in love with it.”

The Tron is turning into a Lego wonderland and it’s kind of cool. This snapshot of life-sized building blocks from @gazza_r

With all this development buzz going on, sometimes it’s nice to stop and take notice of the older, charming things in our city. @angelacuming spots someone stating the obvious.

WE HAVE T-SHIRTS! Here is birthday girl, Mayor Julie Hardaker proudly showing hers off in Auckland. Follow her on @juliehardakernz. She’s pretty cool.

Another by @angelacuming as she broadens #lovethetron out to the Taupo streetart scene.

Local Talent: Jesse Mulligan

http://www.facebook.com/sevensharp#!/photo.php?v=10151228700306078&set=vb.120812117267&type=3&theater

1. Hamilton born and bred comedian, so we’re counting him as a local.

2. Studied law at Waikato University.

3. One of the first tweeters we ever tweeted (correct tweeterminology?), exhibit A.

  tweet

4. A gastronome, or at least he tells Aucklanders where the good restaurants are via his blog http://aucklandfoodblog.blogspot.co.nz/

5. Previously a Seven Days comedian.

6. Not only that but he was even one of the funnier members of their team, sometimes. You can see highlights of Jesse from 2012 here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTWqMC38KPk

7. Now working on Seven Sharp which starts on the 4th and judging by the ad campaigns so far, is going to be either quite slick or a disappointment. We will definitely have to tune in to decide ( no pressure, Mr. Mulligan )

Check it out for yourself at 7pm on TV1 or check Jesse out on twitter https://twitter.com/JesseMulligan.
